Its goal is to improve its members’ IP competitiveness through collaborative activities with the members’ expertise and experience. Its mission is to exploit synergy and growth through horizontal cooperation between members to:

  • provide policy proposals and suggestions to the government, especially the Korean IP Office;

  • co-research on the topics of IP management, IP disputes and patent information analysis;

  • focus on the mid to long-term solution for IP issues such as training IP human resources where common concerns lie; and

  • reinforce the IP management of individual member companies through the sharing of information between members.

Any Korean company, regardless of size, that is willing to share its experiences in intellectual property and participate in KINPA activities in a positive manner is eligible for membership. KINPA has 172 member companies.


patinex-logoPATINEX (Patent Information Expo) is an annual conference and exhibition event which brings together IP specialists, public and private organisations, research institutes and corporations from around the world. PATINEX was first held in 2005 to meet the increasing interest in and need for IP information in Korea and has grown to become the country’s only international IP event, hosting more than 700 participants in 2017. The event consists of presentations by IP specialists and IP solution providers, workshops and an exhibition. It provides ample opportunities to network with IP experts from industry, patent offices and other related organisations. PATINEX delves into areas such as patent offices’ IP information policy, corporations’ IP utilisation and global IP trends. The exhibition allows attendees to engage with IP service providers offering the latest IP solutions.
